"Romulus & Remus"
Romulus and Remus are two look alike brothers who were brought in at 4 months of age, and are now 5 years old. They were found near their dead mother. It is not certain if this trauma was the source of their shyness, but that has been their personality all their lives.
      They are extremely bonded to one another so they would need to be placed together. They are shy at first, but once they know you and trust you, they are very affectionate.
      Their fur is very curly and coarse and long. Their breed is not known, perhaps a Shepherd/Collie/Bernese Mountain dog mix? They always look like they are having a "bad hair day." They look better shaved. They do not pose well, and run when they see the camera come out.
      Romulus and Remus enjoy being with other dogs - females better than males. They have not done well with cats. They are good with children once they know them. They do not like to spend much time in the house. They enjoy their dog-igloo and chew bones.

"Honey"
Honey is a 1-2 year old female Lab mix rescued from Tuba City Animal Control euthanasia list. Mother and 8 pups (less than 2 weeks old) were picked up by animal control. Mother dog and pups were due for immediate euthanasia.
      Thanks to a 14 year old girl who worked at the building and asked to take home the puppies, Tuba City Humane was able to rescue the mother dog the next day and reunite the family.
      Honey was malnourished and needed help from us in order to feed the puppies. By mid-August all puppies were weaned and Honey is now with other adult dogs and very active and happy. Honey was very shy at first with new people but affectionate with the people she is famliar with. She will be spayed as soon as she is ready for surgery (breasts dried out).
